Convert PI -> Quark XPress, Adobe Illustrator or Photosho

Post by puzzele »

Hi all. I LOVE the program photo impact but after I finish my creation, I need to get it printed. However, almost ALL printers keep telling me that I need them to send them the file in the following formats:

Quark XPress (through version 4.1)
Quark XPress is used for layout submission.

Adobe Illustrator (through version 9)
Adobe Illustrator is used for logo and line art submission.

Adobe Photoshop (through version 6)
Adobe Photoshop is used for photo submission

Is there a way to convert my Photo Impact creations into any of these formats?? ANY help would be enormously appreciated.

PS: I currently use PI 8. However, if there is some other program I need to purchase/upgrade to EASILY convert it to one of these formats, I'll do so. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know.

Thanks!

PI can save Photoshop PSD files, but I'd rather try to convince your printer to accept a TIFF.

How about CMYK in Photoshop??

Post by puzzele »

Holy Cow! I didn't even realize PI can save in photo shop format. Cool!

Here is my remaining problem. Many printers have also said that the photoshop file has to be converted to CMYK color format.

Is there a way to do that? Or is there some other program out there that can convert it for me?

Thanks in advance for your time/assistance. It is truly appreciated.

PI can also do the color separation to CMYK. You might find though, the printing house wants the vector graphics. That, as far as I know, PI cannot give you. You can work with vector graphics but you cannot save them as an image.

If you need to go to a professional printer often for your projects, you may have to invest in some professional software for that. I would recommend Quark Express.
