Multi Trim video and burning problems

Post by pawpet »

I have a video file and have used mutli trim function to breakdown the video file into many small clips. I can see the small clips in the "story board" view. I then want to burn it off to a disc. But I am unable to create sub menus. It comes out as a single chapter. What must I do?? The purpose of breaking it down is to enable me to have an index so that I can select specific chapters when i view the entire video on my TV.

HELP!!!

When you say you are unable to create sub-menus, what exactly is happening to prevent you from doing this?

Without more information, it's hard to know what level of suggestion you need. Are you familiar with VideoStudio? Have you created menus before? Etc etc.

Yes I have . When I have individual clips, I can create sub menus. But this a entire video where i use multi trim function to break up the video into different clips. When I use the SHARE /create disc - it gives me one chapter. When I had individual clips in the past, using SHARE/create disc has more than i chapter

Keith -- I am pretty sure that, while he has many scene in his storyboard/ timeline, he has then (hopefully) rendered it into only one final DVD-compatible mpeg-2. (Hopefully he has NOT simply got the project still in the timeline in all of its varied scenes, and then gone straight to the burning engine.) In any case, he is only producing ONE final mpeg-2 for burning to disc, and so will have only one main menu item for this one video. No sub-menus will be possible since there are no other separate videos to have sub-items for. Of course, he could possibly achieve much the same effect by creating chapters based on scene changes...

Apart from doing as I suggested and creating chapters based on scenes (if the program will allow you...), the only other thing I can think of is cut up your main project in the timeline and create a number of different DVD-compatible mpeg files which you can then add separately to the burning module and burn to the one disc. If there are a number of videos in the 'timeline' of the burning module, then you will be able to create a separate menu item for each of them.
