Transfer back to DV

Post by Craig »

Thanks a lot to this forum, I've gotten the basic hang of the capture and edit portion of VS8. I don't have a DVD burner, so after I made my movie, I wanted to send it back to my digital camcorder via the Firewire for eventual transfer to a VCR tape. I used the Share tab and export. The project comes back with some stuttering every 5 or 10 seconds in the video and audio, almost like a little pause. :? Yoou can hear and see this during the transfer and it's present on the final output.

Any thoughts? My system runs XP, 1.2 MH, 256 ram, about 6 or 7 gig free space. I read the info on this site, watched the tutorials and shut all other programs down, including disconnecting from the web.

I'm almost there :)

Your computer is really marginal for doing video work - especially the 256 MB of memory. 8 GB of disk space is not much either. But you got this far and I would not think that exporting would place a huge load on the computer because you are just exporting an AVI fideo file back to the camcorder...

You are capturing, editing and exporting AVI, aren't you?

Yes, AVI. I was debating on upgrading the computer, but was hoping I could get by initially with what I have! Any suggestions?

Craig,
If you are exporting from clips in the timeline try creating an AVI video file of the whole project first and then Export that to your camera. Be sure that your Create Video properties exactly match your Project properties.

Hey jchunter_2, I noticed you're in Phoenix. I'm in Peoria. If you have the time, can you drop me a line at mltdwn12@qwest.net :?: I'd like to shoot you my phone # and ask you a few questions about this via the phone.

Thanks,
Craig
