Hi,
Having trouble burning a DVD, get the message 'Failed to reuse converted cache file (4570)' at the end of the 'converting video title data' phase about 3 mins into the burn activity. This message is followed by 'Unspecified error. Report ID: 0x800411da(4570)'.
I believe I am faithfully following the recommended procedure. Started a new project, Share -> Create disc -> Add Video to add the MPG file created earlier, used gear icon to change settings to match those used in creating the MPG;
Upper Field first
Frame size standard 720x576
Display aspect ratio 4:3
QUality slider all the way over to the right 100%
Video data rate variable 7738
Audio format MPEG audio (Stereo)
Audio bit rate 224 kbps
Checked the space requirements which are 4.2GB if output is to disk and 3.9GB if to disk image file (fails the same whicever I try but the latter saves my blank disks) both these are available.
I do get the 'This action will take some time to render' message after hitting Burn but I am not using Add Project, have checked the settings are the same (those I can find) and the timeline on the new project is empty.
Maybe I'm missing something that needs to be set the same, but if so I can't find it and could use some ideas of what to try next ? Has anyone else seen these messages ?

Tom,
Your "Converting Videos" message is a strong clue that either
(1) Burn properties don't match video file properties or
(2) Something is/or was in the timeline display or
(3) You did not select New Project before entering the Share/Create Disk or
(4) You accidentally selected a project file because the Add Project button is very close to the Add Video File button or
(5) The "Do not convert compliant videos" is not checked.

Hi John,
I have been careful to follow the recommended procedure exactly as far as I can. To confirm;
(2) time line is clear
(3) I did select new project then added the video file
(4) definitely Add Video
(5) I wondered about this but it was checked
The only one I am in any doubt about is (1). I have checked all the settings I can find (listed in previous post) but it's possible I'm missing one. Any suggestions what they could be ? Otherwise I am spot on following the recommended procedure here.

What happens when you leave the quality slider at about 70 or 80% where it was set by default? (I confess I always use the default on this and have never tried sliding it to 100% -- Possibly as a result (??) I have never had a bad DVD burn, and as far as I can tell, the quality of the final DVD is still excellent...)

Hi and thanks for the ideas.
I checked the disk space, and rquirement/availability was C: 8.5GB/78.6GB G: 4.3GB/125.5GB, good suggestion though. I tried the slider idea too but it made no difference to the error message appearing, worth a try though.
I have now managed to get the DVD to burn successfully, after a lot of trial and error. I can’t say I fully understand what’s going on here, but I do think it is down to matching the settings between video file and burn project.
I had great difficulty making sure all the settings were matched up between the two. e.g. the audio settings change between those VS9 displays on the file -> Project properties at the first screen after you open the project and those displayed through the gear icon at the bottom of the create disc screen. Not helpful! I couldn’t get it to work no matter how much matching I did in the burn project so I tried it the other way round and re-rendered the video file to match the default burn project and it all worked.
I don’t know if there was simply a problem in rendering the video file the first time, or some of these settings can’t be changed in the burn project to match but must be set in the video file, but I do know the error message churned out by VS9 is of absolutely no assistance at all! It’s also worth noting the message ‘This action will take some time to render’ after you hit the Burn icon is issued even when it all works in less than 30 mins, so it isn't necessarily a fatal omen.
Hopefully anyone else getting this message will have something to go on.
Thanks for your assistance on this, it’s greatly appreciated.
