Video clip audio/video already out of sync

I have looked through the forums for answers but there are only a few topics and these don't really have answers posted on them!

My video clip plays fine for the first 7 mins but then loses sync - i was wondering if i can burn this clip to dvd video and have MF4 fix the delay? Can MF4 even do this?

clip is VIDEO DivX codec 24 bit 140kbps AUDIO 128kbps 16 bit mpeg layer3.

I have burnt a similar video clip that was not out of sync and added menu title & chapter previews etc which worked well although i have not watched the clip all the way through

DIVX seems to be notorious for sync problems. I don't think any NLE out there can fix an out of sync problem with those.
