PICvideo 3

Post by devo_111111 »

Hi,

I downloaded and registered the codec and it does show up in the smart proxy template area. But I was wondering if it's a faster and better Mpeg codec could it be used in other areas of MSP 8. There doesn't seem to be any easy way of selecting it.

Thanks for the help Terry
and everyone for that matter !!!!

In Peferences/Smart Proxy first enable proxy mode then in the Template menu select a DV preset and click Options. This will open the Video Save Options dialog.

First browse to the General tab and set the frame size you want to use for the proxy. Bigger and an even inteter fraction of the source rez = faster transcoding. Next go to the AVI tab and under Compression select the PICVideo codec.

Here you can also open the PICVideo dialog and set its quality; 20=highest, but I use 18 for smaller files. You can also set if you want to use 2 fields or not. If the rez you set is <240 lines then uncheck this option. Otherwise leave it alone. Clpse its options

In VSO/General the aspect ratio will be set (and ghosted) to use that of the soiurce file because PICVideo will accept about any rez/aspect you feed it.

Once finkshed close the Video Save Options dialog.

Finally click Template/Add Template and name the new template appropriately. It will now appear in the list.

Poof...
