VS8 not recognizing Dolby sound

Post by cansomebodyhelpplease »

I think this is an easy one. I have an .mpg file that has the audio encoded for Dolby Digital 2.0. I would imagine there is a plug-in that I am missing. I have searched for some time with no success...Basically when I play the file in WMP there is sound. When I play the clip in VS I get notta. When I play other .avi clips in VS then I have sound.

Thoughts??

Dolby was/is a plug-in that you (used to?) have to purchase for $29.95 for VS8 - it is built into VS9 as part of the base package.

It costs $49.95 ro upgrade to VS9, which is a far better package than VS8 anyway. As already mentioned, the Dolby plug-in for VS8 is (was?) $29.95, so it is far more sensible to spend the extra $20 and upgrade.
