VS9 I can't Burn a DVD?!?!

Post by Insomnia_Junkie »

I'm making a movie for my high school senior project but for some reason I can't get it to burn to a DVD-RW. I went step by step through that "Recommended Procedure for Success with Video Studio" and I am able to burn to a DVD-R but I need to be able to get it on a DVD-RW for reusable purposes. VS says that the burn was succesful when it spits the DVD-RW out but it won't play on my dvd player.

Thanks in advance for your help, you helped me graduate! :)

Have you tried playing on your PC, and did it play there? You might also try another DVD player. Have you been able to play burned DVD -RW on your DVD player? Some DVD players will not play DVD-RW discs..

Yes it plays from a PC, but it doesn't play on my DVD player or the DVD player on my Playstation 2. If the DVD player can't play RW's is there a certain kind that I can buy that will? If there is what should I look for? Am I going to have to have a special DVD player to play DVD-RW's???

I had the same problem with RWs. I never could get it to burn. A -R disk worked fine.

As far as player compatibility, check this link http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php

I believe you'll find some DVD players that WILL play your disk, and others that won't. I think the general concensus is that the cheaper machines seem to accept a wider variety.

Thats certainly my experience - I bought a DVD player here in UK for £25 (GBP) - it plays virtually anything - CDs, DVD±R , DVD±RW - many of which my expensive Toshiba tells me are faulty and refuses to play them.
