Green flashes burning DVD edited from stand alone dvd record

I am trying to edit a DVD+r recorded on a Philips Stand alone DVD recorder using Movie Factory 4. I import the video, multi trim it then burn it to DVD. The burned DVD has green flashes running across the bottom of the screen on a TV set - the original DVD recording does not!

I would rather burn a video file first but MF4 say the file size exceeds system limit: that doesn't make sense; so I have to burn straight from the edit.

I am using fat 32 with a 4gb limit; the original recording is 720x576 (pal) with AC3 audio and a video variable bitrate of maximum 10,000kbs. The original DVD file is less than 4gb so how can an editied video be over 4gb when the source files are DVD compliant?
