making transparent backgrounds
I have a white background. How do I make it transparent without doing an object extraction?
You could specify the white as the transparent color when you save your image. However, if you have white inside the image, that too will be transparent.

If your current background is not transparent select at least one object, right click on the canvas and select "select all objects". All the objects in the image should now be selected. Right click and select copy or cut.3at1ce wrote:Did you figure it out??? I still have not figured out how to save my image without the white background. Someone PLEASE help...I'm a newbie!!
Go to the menu bar on the top and select file>new>new image. In the dialog box select transparent background under canvas and active image under image size then select OK. Paste your objects on the new transparent canvas. Go to file>save as which will bring up the save as dialog box. From the drop down "save as type" menu select either png or gif. These are the two most common types of images that support transparent backgrounds. Save it.
Additional options can be found by hitting the options button in the "save as" dialog box. Note that Gif only supports 256 colors, if your working with picture image use png.
