I've been using Video Studio 9 for around a month now , on and off , and I have this problem which is being a pain. Video Studio is AWESOME , it does everything I need , BUT , for some reason , I cant seem to be able to capture a whole DV tape at once , no matter how I try captureing , regular where u set the lenght , or with the smart scan option. Well , the smart scan option does actually capture the whole tape, but it's HORRIBLE , it chops up video where it shouldnt , and as I sat here and saw it's routines the other day , I saw it actually capturing scenes in a pretty much random order, it would forward, capture a scene , then rewind to capture a previous one , then forward again , a strange method if you ask me , i'm looking to capture video not sexually molest my Video Cam. Does anyone know how to make it so that VS just captures the whole tape as it is , from beggining to end, in 1 big movie , ignoring the parts of the tape where there is no video or timecode recorded , just do a straight capture ? I've tried unchecking the let video studio access to your cameras controls button , still does the same thing, It's very frustrating and irritating when I set the cam to capture video and leave just to come back a couple of hours later and see it stopped the capture procedure just 15 mins. after I left :\ . Any info on any settings I could change or the like is greately appreciated. For capture settings I've used both the default ones and the ones posted on the sticky on this board , both do the exact same thing, with the exeption of the video being very jerky when using the sticky's sujested settings.
Computer Specs
-------------------
CPU: Athlon XP 2400+ 2.0 Ghz
Ram: 128 MB
Video Card: 64 MB Radeon 7500
HD: 40 GB (NTFS)
Capture method: FireWire
OS: Windows XP Pro SP1
Video Studio: 9
BTW , dont mind the small amount of ram , as I added the 512 MB stick from my other computer to this (the family PC) thinking the small amount of ram wasnt enough to keep up with the buffer, but it did the EXACT same thing , didnt last longer capturing or anything, pretty much made no difference at all.

Camera Control
Sorry, this is one problem I have never had. I am using UVS9, and a JVC camera. The device control setting may help.
To make a suggestion in case they help.
1) in Tools, Select Device Control..., select "None". I have tried this for capturing a DV stream so that Ulead does not try to control my camera. It worked for me.

Hi
Afaik
Capturing with Video Studio requires a continuous stream of data, otherwise VS will terminate capture.
A poor signal will also interrupt the capture process.
When capturing digital via Firewire to Dv Avi the process still needs a continuous stream.
Before using your camera, using a new tape, with the lens cap on, press record.
Run the record sequence through to the end, Your tape will now contain video data and the timecode.
Rewind the tape and start recording for real.
Pre-record all new tapes.
Pre recording your tapes will also help with the search function within your camera.
If you read your Camera Manual this process may well be recommended.
