All DVD/CD drives gone after reeinstallation of UVS8

Post by bert37 »

I am new to the forum but not completely inocent, as I used UVS8 and UVS6SE for more than a year. On my dual boot system (W98SE / W2000)
all drives have disappeared after a new installation of UVS8 with the
patches from the net. Before there were no troubles except long avi-files
that were not converted to mpeg. Otherwise I have burned many DVD
with little problems. In Win98SE all drives work still perfectly also in
conjunction with UVS8.
Now I find absolutely no way to recover my DVD/CD-drives in Win2000. Deinstallation and reinstallation is useless - the drives appear in the
device manager with the yellow exclamation marks and statement:
Device is not running properly as windows cannot load the driver reqired. The device depends on another device not running properly. I have already deinstalled all burning SW, UVS and all SW that directly uses the drives, but there is no change.

The idea of reinstalling W2000 is a nightmare as there are some 150 programs to recover ! Can anyone help ?
