What sort of Machine do you need to run VS9

Post by surf_au »

I would like to know what at the main things I need to look at if I want to upgrade my machine - I ran VS8 (trial version OK) and ten bought VS9-

It used to take about 1:1 or a little bit over in other video editing packages on this PC. Now when use VS9 and click on create Disk it takes over 2 hours for a 27 minute movie - just to create the file. - not ever starting to create the image or burn the DVD.

I have 2.4 Ghz and 512 meg of ram - when I open task manager the processor is running at 98-99% the RAM is at about 240-300Meg. I have a Radeon 9200 video card.

Also I rekon that becuse it takes so long that why I get the error messages and cannot create DVD's or iso files!

any advice????? I surely cannot take that long - help -

Hi

The render times seem about right to me. But there are so many variables to give a definite answer. What you are converting from and to has a lot to do with speed. Not to mention your pc setup etc.
If you are rendering Mpeg to Mpeg than it should be quick, providing the properties are the same, if Avi to mpeg then expect about 2.25 times.

You seem to say that you go to the create disc from the timeline without first creating a video file.

It has been recommended for some time that a video file be first created, then using the new file, share create disc.
The process is split into two parts, Create Video File then Create Disc.

This may cure your (Also I rekon that becuse it takes so long that why I get the error messages and cannot create DVD's or iso files!)

Read the recommended procedure at the top of this forum for further info.

What sound?

You mean you have sound with your movies, Wow!

Maybe if you tell us some details of your video properties.
We could use them and get sound as well.

Ok

Where did you play the disc, using, ‘pc’ ‘real player’ ‘media player’ or dvd player.
Did it play at all?
NO

Are you following the recommended procedure from the top posting?

http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=27

After reading the above.

How did you capture your video, let this forum know your capture properties?

Surf_au: if, by asking where the audio is, you mean that you have successfully produced a Video_TS directory, but that there is either no Audio_TS directory or it is empty, then don't worry. There is never anything in an Audio_TS directory these days. It is all in the Video_TS directory. Burning programs will insert an empty Audio_TS directory simply because the burning protocols still require the presence of such a directory, even though it is always empty!!

The only time you are likely to have an Audio_TS directory which actually has files in it will be with an Music DVD...

Sound?

Post by GeorgeK »

I hope you solve the sound issue.

As for it taking a long time to render, well I allways set up rendering over night when I have gone to bed. My 2.0GHz takes 4 6o 8 hours depending on how much quality I want to get. Since Quality is my preference, I use CBR or dual pass VBR at 100% Quality on the slider and try not to go below 8000 bit rate. I also like moving titles which may take longer too.
