Audio out of sync

Post by Arnie »

I have a MPG file, created from an AVI file, with audio out of sync by about 0.4 seconds (audio ahead of video). When I correct the audio in MSP8 and re-generate the mpg in MSP8, audio is now in sync in the mpg file (as played in Win Media Player).
Now for the puzzle: When burning the DVD in MF4, the audio is out of sync again! (by the same amount as in the MPG bafore I corrected it).
I tried to set the audio to on-time, 0.4 seconds ahead, 0.4 seconds behind. The MPG from MSP8 performs accordingly. However when burning in MF4, ALL OF THEM end up with audio 0.4 seconds adead! Weird.
The I tried to burn in DVD WS2: The DVD is now as per the MPG file, so it works "correctly".
Is this a bug in MF4, in that it "retrieves" the original (pre-edited) file's audio timing somehow?
Any help / advise appreciated.
Cheers,
Arnie.

Maybe you used an option in Workshop that didn't de-multiplex & re-multiplex the audio/video????

I think every video-frame and every "audio-frame" has a time-stamp. I don't know how Ulead's programs handle these time-stamps, but maybe that's why its reverting-back to the out-of-sync state. :?
