When using the crop tool it would be nice to be able to reposition the selected area by pressing the arrow keys on the keyboard. This would give better control than attempting to drag it with the mouse.
Also it could do with the option to specify x/y co-ordinates.
Currently you can only select width and height.

 It would be nice if there was an option to save customized video filters in your production library, preferably in a custom created folder.

Also, it would be good if a created 5.1 sound can be saved as Dolby Digital (sound only) , thusfar only option is PCM .Wav which will only play on my PC., DVDWS will not accept the file when I try to import it.

just my 2cts

But you can. There is more than one way to do it. For ex., highlight it in Effects Manager, click on Customized Dialog, Click Add, then choose Production Library|Custom from the directory tree.

You can also use ADD from about any effect dialog, meaning you can save custom moving path, video/audio filter, transition and overlay option settings. You can also save these out to disc for archival/sharing purposes. This is now I did my custom Portrait and PIP effects.

I Will add these to the Wishlist 8)

1. A Multi-Camera editing tool

2. A "Macro" Recorder (like the Quick Command Panel -> Task Recorder in Photoimpact 11)

I need BADLY in UMSP:
1) Capacity to capture both stereo audio channels from DV 12bit/32khz dual stereo DV tapes
2) I want back my "audio transition" button I had in version 7, because the present automation in adding audio transitions works only once and if you click on 'restore volume', you loose your audio transition
3) Possibility to define several folders to store files of different nature
4) Possibility to output normal AC3 multichannel files (and not WAV's)

1. when you go to insert a video file with extra audio tracks just click the TRACKS button in the Insert Video File dialog. For more info press F1 in MSP8 then serch for "extracting extra audio tracks" in the help file.

2. I agree.

3. In Production Library or the Project Trays Media Bin? If so just right-click and select Create from the context menu.

4. Could be a liscensing issue with Dolby. As it is Dolby Digital (AC3 is an obsolete term for DD) can only be exported as part of a DVD compliant MPEG video file or a DVD burn.

First I must obtain somewhere this multi-track dv-file, and I can't do it from within Ulead Media Studio Pro, since Video Capture can only capture the first stereo audio channel (I tried, and due to this problem I'll have to use Scenalyzer to capture DV instead... Pity)

Yeah... maybe... I'd prefer I could just define several folders all the same...

Yeah, but I'd really like them to solve this with Dolby...

In preferences, the ability to select "Anti-flicker" by default.
Currently you have to drop the clips on the timeline, right click and select the anti-flicker filter. Bit of a pain if you are creating a "simple" slideshow of a hundred or so photographs.

Trick #1 is to set up a custom project template for image slideshows. Now you have to decided on what settings to use in it....

Since DVD supports either frame or interlaced/field video just encode & burn the project as your content dictates; meaning use a frame mode project & export for projects that are primarily images and interlaced for projects that are primarily video.

With an image slideshow project and export modes set to FRAME images won't need to set each files media source options set to flicker reduction in order to produce the second field. Any stray interlaced content can have its media source options set to DEINTERLACE to match.

When played on a DVD deck the second field will be generated by the deck itself.

For projects that are primarily interlaced video the inverse would be the case.

All that said in MSPro 8 you can multi-select (CTRL-click) images on the timeline and set all their media source options at once. Summary Timeline makes this easier as it lets you fit more thumbnails onscreen at once.

Terry,
I did, I created a Custom Slideshow template with the "Field" option set to Frame based. Also when rendering I rendered to Frame Based.

I found that despite this without the antiflicker selected they flicker.
If I set anti flicker, they don't.

I include the Pan and Zoom filter in my images to produce the Ken Burns effect, Perhaps this has a bearing on the flicker issue, but as I said, if I turn on the anti flicker filter they are perfect.

As most of the slide shows I create contain at least a hundred clips, even with the control click method to select all, it takes a while and it is easy to miss one or two when dealing with so many.

It would be simpler if there was an option in the custom settings that could be set/unset as required.

Even though they rarely respond, I know Ulead does keep an eye on the forums.

I would like to see an option to have rounded corners in overlay boxes, PIP's etc.

I don' know if improvements are the same as enhancements but I'll list a few anyway ;-)

I'll pick on the Title Clip dialog for starters.

1) Make it resizable.
2) There should be a tick-box on the idea of 'having' or 'not having' an Animation or Type effect - like all the other options on the left-hand side. User Interface-wise, it's currently not clear at all how to remove an Animation/Type effect or whether you actually have one.
3) An option to not show the background video of the title (like in version 7)
4) Add unicode support to the editor. Currently, I can't copy/paste text from a Japanese web page into a title - it just shows '????' instead of the actual text.
