Can you please put in a sticky "Read before posting" message on this forum, entreating posters to give full details of their HW, OS, WS version and updates, detailed description of any difficulty, when informing us of problems. It is ridiculous how many times we have to ask for these details, which should be automatically given. Please.

I agree.
Would it perhaps be possible to make this a mandatory task when a new user to the forum creates a user account. I realise that we all update our systems but at least it would be better than nothing.

Very good idea.
Because, having a sticky only is not going to do the trick, has been tried several times before, does not work. People just ignore it. Or we could make it a policy not to answer questions that do not have the basic info included.

Come on Moderators, we have asked for this some time ago and still we are having to repeat to several posts the same questions.
Here is a good template submitted by Vidoman in answer to one of these many queries. At least we could insert a "read this first" link to the sticky.

We need more information to help ....
  • Did you follow the Recommend Procedures posted as a sticky at the top of this forum?
Are you capturing anologue video( from Camcorder, VHS, TV..) or digital from camcorder?
How are you capturing the video, using a box such as Canopus, Capture Card on your PC, USB or Firewire(IEEE1394, iLink) from a camcorder
What are your capture properties in VideoStudio?
    What are the Project Settings?
Is the video being edited, trimmed, transitions, filters applied?
What steps are you taking to create your DVD? Are you creating/burning the DVD straight from the timeline, or are you creating a video file first? (Share>Create Video)
What format are you using to create your DVD? NTSC or PAL?
What are your system specs? (Which OS, Amount of RAM, hard drive/free space, video card, Processor Speed...)
Have you disabled programs/apps running in the background while burning?
Anyone of the above could relate to your problems, and without us knowing this information it is like telling a mechanic that my car doesn't run properly, please fix it....

Hehe,
I work in a Service department, maintaining high-tech professional equipment.
You couldn't believe it if I told you the number of items that comes in with a sticker taped on it: Defective, or Out of Order, or even better "fails randomly". Not even a customer name sometimes, you have to find with the serial number of the equipment where it comes from.
I repeat, this is from professionals, not the average desperate housewife (no offense please, this is a tongue-in-cheek comment).

OK, I know, but the subject here was labeled Off-topic...

Obviously, as there has been no reaction from DVDDoug or GSR since my OP and the support from you guys, they are not taking their job seriously.

As far as I know, this would have to be one by an administrator. I have no clue how to make a "sticky", and I don't have any extra options when I make a new post.

As a moderator I'm supposed to "enforce the rules", and I can edit other peoples posts. That's about it... So far, all I've done with my "moderator powers" is delete a couple of duplicate posts.

P.S.
I don't work for Ulead, and I'm not an expert with the Ulead products. I'm just a regular user who can edit your posts! :D

My that was quick!!
There is a new button at the foot of your posting now with system details.
To enter yours go to your profile page and complete the extra fields relating to your system specifications.

... Except that, as you will see on another post on this subject of an extra button, that I have filled in all the system details on my Profile page, resubmitted it, and ... no button appears, though others tell me they can see it under my name with my other 3 buttons... I can also not see the system button under anyone else's name... I have tried logging out and back in, restarting the browser and rebooting the computer, all to no avail. All I _do_ get, when I click on 'Profile' under either my name or someone else's, is the addition of 'System Information' on the page which comes up.
