Do codecs matter when you converting .avi files/?
before I had no problem fiting 2x2 hours movies on one DVD
now on new machine have different codec installed and same software (showbiz-MF3)
but only 1.30hours .avi clip can fit on DVD4.7GB
what am I doing wrong?

Bitrates...
check the bitrates you are using when encoding your videos. They are probably higher now then what they were on the other computer...
