Minimize VS8?

Post by Bob Hughes »

Is there any way to minimize VS* while creating a disk image? I have been knocking its priority down so I can do other work, but it will not minimize.

press the windows key, the one between Ctrl and Alt keys.
This should bring back your tool bar.

Thanks but that does not minimize VS. It just brings the desktop into view. Every time you exit from another program VS is still maximized.
I realize this is a work around, but it would be nice to be able to forget about it, until it was finished.

Yes, I've had similar thoughts: Why does VideoStudio occupy the ENTIRE screen? Reminds me of long-ago days when software companies used to force us to see only their thing, to the exclusion of all else--multitasking be damned! I do find this incredibly stuffy and old-fashioned.

I think we all can minimize VideoStudio while in an editing mode. That's the only option available--I can't just move it aside to get to a desktop icon I need. Before beginning any work on a project, I always open a Windows Explorer window so as to be able to Alt-Tab to my computer, which VideoStudio otherwise completely covers up.

As for minimizing while buring a disk or an image, I don't. I don't do anything at all while burning. Superstitious, for one, and also, I too clearly remember the time when you COULDN'T safely do anything if you wanted to avoid creating coasters.

I usually click on the Show Desktop icon in the Quick Launch area of the Taskbar, that minimizes all open windows and reveals the Desktop. Clicking on the icon a second time restores all the windows, i.e. UVS would go back to fullscreen mode.

If you don't have the Show Desktop icon on your Taskbar, you can find instructions on how to get it installed HERE.

You don't need an icon, just press the Windows Key + D
