Unable to install web download of Photo Explorer 8.5
I downloaded Photo Explorer v8.5 but when running the installer a messagebox popped up telling me it couldn't find Photo Impact v10. I don't have or use Photo Impact 10.... whats wrong? Ulead has been of absolutely no help because tech support can't be accessed unless the product is registered... and there is no registration number until it is installed. A catch 22! anyone have any ideas?

re: Unable to install web download of Photo Explorer 8.5
You probably downloaded the PhotoImpact bundled version of Photo Explorer 8.5 from http://www.ulead.com/pi/esd.htm. You won't be able to install this unless you bought the full version of PhotoImpact 10. You have to buy the full version of Photo Explorer 8.5 if you want to run the software without having to buy PhotoImpact 10.

Unable to Install GIF Animator 5
skipwall - I have the same problem with GIF Animator 5. When I purchased the software throug Softwrap it was supposed to be automatically activated. It tried but for some reason the program crashed. Since then I have not been able to get it to run at all.
I have sent numerous emails to Sortwrap and Ulead with pretty much no help. I did get a response from someone at Ulead giving me a link to download an install file that didn't need to be unlocked once installed but that failed for the same reason and they haven't yet responded to my notification of this. Before I used the new installer I uninstalled the version I had on the PC and cleaned my registry. It did nothing at all to help.
Interestingly, I can execute and use two sub-applications, anigen.exe and IdxEd.exe but the main program ga_main.exe simply will not remain open after I launch it. On launch, the main program window opens full screen with a smaller dialogue box on the foreground that says it is loading program components (video I/O, etc) but once that completes the program closes and leaves the system. It refuses to stay open and I can't get any answers.
Does anyone have a clue??? Unfortunately if I can't get this resolved by tomorrow, July 28, 2005, I will have to refuse the charge to my credit card and remove the software from ym system. It's a pity because I realy wanted it but with a total lack of tech support for the problem (and like skipwall, being stuck in tech support catch-22 limbo) I don't see that happening.

About GIF Animator.
Depending on the system configuration, Microsoft Windows XP may delete or modify the autoexec.nt file when upgrading to Service Pack 2 (SP2). This file in not needed by the Microsoft Windows XP Operating System. However, if is required for some 16-bit DOS and legacy Windows applications (such as GIF Animator) to run.
After installing GA Animator on an XP system do the following:
To copy the Autoexec.nt file from the Repair folder to the System32 folder, perform the following steps:
1. Click the Start button, right-click My Computer, and then click Explore. (Note: For Microsoft Windows XP systems running in "Classic mode", right-click My Computer on the desktop and then click Explore)
2. The My Computer explorer window appears.
3. In the left pane, click the [+] sign next to your primary local hard drive.
This is normally your C: drive.
4. In the left pane, click the [+] next to the Windows install directory. (Note: For most systems, this is the Windows folder. On some client systems, this is the WINNT folder.)
5. In the left pane, scroll down and click the Repair folder.
6. In the right pane, right-click autoexec.nt and click Copy from the menu that appears.

re: About GIF Animato
This solution is from Ulead Tech Support:
1. Go to the vio folder under Gif Animator 5 program folder. This is usually C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead GIF Animator
2. Delete the uvavi.vio (You’d better to back up the file to some other folder)
For further questions or assistance with this, you can email Tech Support by filling up the "Technical Support Form" at http://www.ulead.com/tech/techsupport.htm
