Single frame advance

Post by DaveO »

One of the less inspired features of the VS9 editor is, in my opinion, the way you can advance a frame at a time.

Given there are 25 frames a second (PAL) if you use the time code to navigate a clip the smallest increment is a single frame at a time or 1 second at a time.

If you want to do frame-accurate editing I find this too coarse. If you are unlucky it can mean anything up to 24 clicks of the mouse button to get to the position you want in that particular "second" of footage.

In Windows Movie Maker if you click anf hold the frame advance arrows it will move the clip one frame after the other repeatedly until you let go of the mouse button.

Is there anything in the Vs9 gui that will let me do this?

Thanks,

Dave

Also use the Tab Key to select the timeline arrow. When you see the little blue arrow flashing, then it is selected, and you can use your arrow keys to move across the timeline one frame at a time...

I knew there had to be something like this in there somewhere.

Thanks for the replies.

You can also click on the timecode in the bottom right corner - as you have been doing - but then use the up/down arrows instead of mouse clicking to advance 1 frame/1 second/1 minute per key stroke - - use left and right arrows to switch between frames/seconds/minutes
