Using Movie Factory 3 that came with DVD Xpress (model usba 701).
The transfer goes perfect.
Problem: Once my desktop computer finishes processing the movie file,
I get two error messages at the very end.
Error Message 1: Source File had some problems (5000)
Error Message 2: Cannot open file [14252:1:0]
Does anyone positively know if Movie Factory 4 will eliminate these errors? I hate to buy a newer version have same problems.
Have tried calling Ulead and emailing tech support with no luck at all. 20 minutes on hold and I finally get a recording to leave message & phone
number and tech support will call back. 4 days have since past!

You've probably got a corrupt MPEG... DVD Xpress only captures to MPEG... Right? Often a corrupt MPEG will play OK, but cause crashing or A/V sync problems when burned/converted to DVD.
This could be caused by a problem during capture, or by editing the MPEG (MPEGs are not meant to be edited, although the Ulead products "try".)
If the hardware came with special capture software, try capturing with both that program and Movie Factory to see if one works better than the other with your particular hardware. (I use the software that came with my capture card for the capture step.)
As far as I know, Movie Factory 4 is NOT more tolerant of bad MPEGs. But you can download the free trial and give it a try.

To: DVDDoug: I understand what you are implying by a file becoming corrupt during capture. You are correct; DVD Xpress does convert to MPEG.
I am copying a VHS to my desktop and then burning to a DVD.
But, if I use Nero version 3 se, I am able to burn the same file or movie without any problem. Here is a thought: I have to "rip" the vhs using
Nero because my version of DVD MovieFactory 3 does not offer that feature. Does Movie Factory 4 offer ripping to the hard drive?
I was hoping to find out what the error codes meant and "hoped" there may be a patch to correct this. Thank you for all your help!!
