I've been struggling with many of the bugs previously listed during my eval of v11. Should I look to purchase v10 instead and do the upgrade later when ULEAD figures things out? If so, where can I still get it? I know NOVA still sells a repackaged v10, but I've already logged dozens of support hours with their staff on a different repackaged product and I don't want to go down that road again.
Thoughts?

Given all the problems with v11, can I/should I buy v10?

Version 10 was not entirely without problems either on some machines. Personally I did not have a problem, neither did others, but a number of people here did.
It all depends as to how desparate you are to get an image editing program. Personally, if I did not have PI 10 and PI XL (both working nicely) I would persevere with PI 11. It is not as bad as some of the posts here suggest. It entirely depends on your particular setup. It may be best to go for the boxed version since you will not have any of the downloading issues.
Which particular problems did you have with your trial version and has that trial expired?
What are your system spec's?

Specifics on v11 problems
Thanks for the response. I struggled through the download issues and managed to dowload and install most of the files. My trial version has about 3 weeks left on it.
I could not get component_e.exe to install "Setup program cannot find Ulead PhotoImpact 11 on your system. Please make sure that you have installed Ulead PhotoImpact 11 first, then reinstall the program again". Is this file needed? Everything else installed without any problems.
The downloaded video tutorials do not run to completion and lock up my computer requiring a reboot. I have not had this problem on this computer before these files. I wonder if the downloads are corrupted - and if so, could this extend to some of the other files?
Lastly - and the real killer - the invisible buttons on the attribute toolbar make learning the system difficult. Has anyone got this part working or is it a machine-specific problem?
Will buying the license and dealing with tech support get me going? (they won't talk to me without purchasing a key first - so much for try before you buy
)
Thanks,

A lot of the problems you describe are possibly download related. I just downloaded the full version and all the extras. Everything installed ok and I did not find any problem areas. Just did not have enough time to give it a good work out. One thing I noticed though was this: my PI 10 was running erratically and one of the painting tools I tried was not working smoothly. Some settings did not work as they did prior to the install of PI 11 either.
When I restarted my system the next day, everything works fine, figure that.
The component_e.exe contains the templates etc. for the web design modules, if I understand correctly. Hence, depending on what you want to do. it is important. Even if you do not want to do any design for the web, it still is important that the program works as described.
I daubt that you would have any issues, like you did, with the boxed version. But that is not guaranteed either.
Did you install the trial in its default location? How exactly do you go about installing the component_e.exe? Is PI running when you do that or is it off?
Have you tried both ways?
It's very hard to advise on problems you haven't faced yourself
A lot if it is educated guessing.

Installed with and without PhotoImpact running
With regards to component_e.exe, I tried it with PhotoImpact running and without. I also tried it after rebooting and every other combo I could think of.
The little I played with the app, I liked it. So maybe I'll go ahead and get the box version. Worst case I'm out 90 bucks.
Thanks,

Success at last
I'm not sure why, but I've got it working on 2 computers now. I think the problem was related to my EZ-Trust (computer associates) anti-virus software. It had always been a little flaky and I finally got rid of it replacing it with mcafee. I reinstalled PhotoImpact using the links and I've got what appears to be a functioning product.
