Hi,
This may belong in a Windows forum somewhere, but I believe Messenger is interfering with my burns using VS7SE. Messenger is always accessing the internet. I am not sure what it is telling Microsoft about my surfing habits or anything else, but how can I either disable it for a burn or can it be uninstalled entirely? Is it an integral part of Windows? I do not use it for IM'ing, so I would simply prefer to uninstall it. I am using Win XP SP1.
My DVD's freeze for a quick second, every 10 minutes or so, about as long as it takes Messenger to acces the internet and about as often. It seems like too much of a coincedence.
On a side note, does anyone know why it is always accessing the internet?
Thanks

Somewhere in Windows Messenger under Tools -> Options, you can uncheck the option to start Messenger on startup.
On the other hand, if something as simple as Messenger is screwing up your burns, you've got a bigger problem than it starting up at boot time. I suspect it's something else -- have you scanned for spyware?

You'd also be the first person I have heard of who had problems with Video Studio because of Messenger... but then again...
As for why Messenger always accesses the internet, it constantly checks to see if anyone on your contacts list is on line. If they are, it tells you, so you can have a chat if you want.
For what it's worth, I have had Messenger running for as long as I have been using Video Studio (April 2003), and never had any problem with it...
