Every time I try to trim and save a AVI video in ulead video studio 9 I get this error messege
"THIS AVI codec ID cannot be trimmed"
What causes this error.. It comes up every time I try to trim any AVI video that I get of the internet, like a music video, or anything else for that matter.
As far as I know, they are just a regular divx AVI, do I have to install special codecs or something, or maybe try reinstalling ulead 9? I have this problem with all AVI video's I get off the internet, regardless of type.
Anyone else have this problem.. Thanx for any help in advance guys.

Hi Iron Jock Strap
So what part of the world do you come from, I'm not chatting u up, it just helps to establish what kind of properties you should be using for your video files.
Mainly in the Uk and Europe we are Pal, in the US they are Ntsc. ( but still good pals) but different settings.
The video file you cannot edit, has some properties, if you right click the clip in the timeline and select properties you can view these.
What are they?
The problem may be that Video Studio does not support the Avi clips you have downloaded from the internet.(maybe there prone to viruses etc—I just don’t know)
You mention music video, if it’s an audio file then VS is not an audio editor.
So what type of file have you got??????????????????

He is using DivX...
Iron Jock Strap -- unfortunately, your expression 'regular divX AVI' says it all as there is in fact nothing 'regular' about AVI files. AVI is really just a carrier format for files which have been prepared by a variety of programs using a variety of codecs. DivX is in fact a variety of mpeg-4 but is 'exported' or put into an AVI carrier file... As you may know, there are a variety of programs out there to convert DivX files to mpeg-2 which you can then edit in VS9. VS 9 does not inherently handle mpeg-4 files. You need to download the free mpeg-4 plugin if you are a registered user of VS9: http://www.ulead.com/events/vs9_hdv/runme.htm I assume also that you have the latest update of the DivX codec (version 6.0.3)...
