Hi all. I posted a while ago about a DVD I created that turned out to have no audio on a PAL TV (they were created as NTSC). For disclosure: the DVD player and PAL-TV can play NTSC DVDs...I watched many a store-bought US DVDs on them. In a previous thread I created someone brought up the fact that it could be a mono/channel issue. They might be right. I re-rendered the projects with PAL audio and I created a new DVD this morning with those.
As an aside: I was not able to use VS8 to create the DVD. Every time I tried with the PAL files I would get error:80041c21 (see this thread). So I had to use another program to generate the image.
When I burned the image I tested it on my NTCS/PAL/Region-Free player and sure enough the audio was only coming from the left speaker. I re-checked the options my PAL projects and they both had stereo (using LPCM, as someone in the other thread said PAL and MPEG audio don't mix). I also checked on the other app. I used to create the DVD image (Ulead DVD Workshop), and all the settings looked right there.
Any idea why I might only be getting audio from the left channel?
Thanks for the help,
Ben..

Hi
You don’t say where your original footage came from.
If it was a mono video that was captured as stereo, you will have made a stereo file with two channels, one of which will effectively be muted. The channel will be there but with no audio content.
If you view the file in VS using the Audio View in project playback you should be able to see the two channel volume bars pulsating to the audio level.
If you view only one bar then the other channel has no content.
Although this will affect the audio it should not cause any ‘error’ problems.
Do you see one or two bars?
