Last night my daughter and son-in-law came over our house to share their recently acquired wedding video from the videographer. (just married
My son-in-law mentioned to me that, although it was nicely done, he didn't see much difference from the videos I had put together, from this wedding video.
Well ... I did! LOL. This guy must have a hundred transitions in this video. Subtle, for sure, but tons of them. For example, he was shooting everyone dancing to a particular dance, and in just that segment, changed from one angle, to another, from one couple dancing in one part of the dance floor to another, while never losing the bands music. The music played contiguously, while he inserted clip after clip and melded it together to one dance scene without really making it noticable. He did things like this throughout the video.
He also melded in slideshow clips which he compiled from my kids giving him over 150 4x6 prints that he had to scan first.
Shoot, forget the amount of work, I don't think I'm ogranized enough to store all these various edits on the computer and remember what the heck I was trying to accomplish! Not to mention, he must be doing more than one wedding!
All I could think of after watching this hour and a half of very nicely done video was ... wow ... could VS9 handle THAT MANY transitions, effects and file clips without crashing? LOL ... I'm pretty sure he was using something else, but I couldn't help wondering if VS could keep up with that.
secret .... even though it was my daughters wedding video, I enjoyed watching this guys techniques as much as the wedding!
