automatic conversion of selected objects

before my brother reformatted my computer, PI used to not convert selections (made by the selection tool) into objects unless you right clicked and chose "Convert to Object".

now it does it automatically and i dont know how to change it.

Which version of PI? Different versions have different approaches to many things.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with PI 8 but one question: Which mode do you run PI in "Basic" or "Standard"?

Never used the Basic mode because I would lose all my own presets etc. If, in fact, you are running in Basic mode, change it to Standard and check if that makes a difference.
