video ends up distorted or poor resolution

Post by acantho »

I've been trying everything possible for the last month to burn some VCDs of some stuff I have.

I have finally created mpeg videos with the aspect ratio for VCDs and everything looks great when I preview it in MF but after it gets burned the resolution goes way down. So much so that the subtitles on the video are no longer legible.

Anybody else run into this problem or know of a way to correct it?

no ideas?

well does anybody have any suggestions on how to burn a good quality VCD from a 640X480 avi file?

I'm currently using TMPGEnc to do the encoding to mpeg but like I stated above, once I try to burn it with MF the resolution or something goes crappy and the picture looks like poo

If you are using TMPGEnc to do the encoding then make sure you have MF configured not to re-encode the file.

Another thing you might want to try is leaving TMPGEnc out and let MF do the encoding. MF uses the MainConcept encoder which does a good job and is faster.
