"Flushing DV transcode Buffer"
Help please, after about 5 minutes of capturing from an analogue source (VHS tape) onto Videostudio 7, this message appears and I have to stop capturing from the source. Obviosly this means I can't capture any segment over 5 minutes long without an edit. What does it mean and how can I rectify so I can capture up to 2 hours at the one sitting?

I will bet that you are capturing to mpeg format. To transcode from digital video (uncompressed) to mpeg (compressed) "on the fly" takes lots of computer horsepower; if the computer gets a bit behind that notice will appear. It's another way of saying "hang on a sec, I need to sort this stuff out first..."
To avoid that problem completely, save to DV format. There is no computer processing needed on the way in, it is better for editing; the only downside is that it takes lots of room on the hard drive. Well worth it though, IMHO.

A possible problem, though Ron, is that he is capturing from an analogue source, and a lot of the capture devices out there won't allow you to capture to DV format. Unless he has a digital video camera with pass-through capability to which he can connect his analogue source, or a capture card or device that allows DV capture, I think he is stuck with shorter captures which he will then have to reassemble later. Or of course he can buy a new and more powerful computer with loads of RAM!!

Ironclaw,
So that we can assist you we need to know a few things about what you are using to capture the video with (eg Hauppage TV card) and the settings you have chosen.
We also need to know your computer specifications,
Size of processor (eg AMD Athlon 24XP or Intel Pentium 4 or whatever.)
The amount of RAM you have,
The size of your Hard Drive(s)
