tv safe area does not change/appear

Post by lietsche »

i record vhs tapes via a dv camera (firewire) to the straight to dvd utility.

but on the very bottom on the image i see a "flickering", in the preview monitor as well as on the burned dvds. i guess it captures full (vhs) screen.

solution (and problem):
in the settings you could change the tv save area from 0 to 30% and a red border (in order to present you the to be captured image) in the preview monitor should appear which is not the case.

i am using the t30d trial version MF4, maybe in the registrated version it works or are the versions the same besides the time limit?

if not everything works, but the "cropping" funktion is really important for me.

help is appreciated ;)

let me put it like this:

can YOU change the TV safe area in the trial OR registered version (TV safe area -> settings menu)?

Do you see the red border as described in the help menu (concerning settings)?

please help

That border is only for a "reference" -- it doesn't change the resolution or the capture area of your video?

All it is doing is putting out a rectangle for you to use as a guide when doing your edits.

you are right.

the tv safe area only applies to the menu function and it is a guideline to create your menu.

there i can see the red box and it changes according to the percentage given in the settings menu.

thanks for you help.

any idea how i could get rid of the flickering (due to the underscan IMHO)on the bottom or how i could crop the image?

if you mean a thin strip of video that flickers -- that is normal, but if you play it back on a TV Screen, it should be outside the viewable area (so you will not see it on a TV).
