I think the TV Pro card has an audio input. Are you using it, or are you using your soundcard? Use the audio-in on the video-capture card.
Are you capturing with the special capture-software that came with the card, or with Video Studio? If you have problems with VS, use the software that come with the card. You can use VS once you have a digitized video file.
Are you capturing to AVI or MPEG? AVI is preferred if your card gives you a choice.
Is the raw captured-sound out of sync, or does the problem show-up after editing or burning? Corrupt video files can playback fine, but may cause problems later in the process.
If you cannot prevent the problem, and if the sync-error is constant over the entire program, you can separate the audio & video, and use an audio editor like Audacaty (free) or Goldwave ($50 USD) to adjust the sync. You do this by changing the length of the audio program... by adding silence to the beginning, or trimming a little sound/silence from the beginning. This will be a pain!
If the sync error is not constant over the program, this is REALLY a pain!

sjj1805 -- your 'new' Sony camera is in fact very old, though admittedly useful, technology, and AFAIK is the only brand camera on the market which records a digital signal to Hi 8 format tapes. The rest of us, though, are limited to our much smaller DV cassettes (or built-in hard disks or mini DVDs)...

8mm/Hi8 analog playback from Digital8 camcorder
We've gotten away from the original subject of analog capture, but, to continue on this tangent... I've owned a couple of higher-end Sony Digital8 camcorders and still have one to play my family memories recordings on Hi8 and Digital8. I believe that at one time all Sony Digital8 models had analog playback compatibility and internal digitization, ie they output a DV signal on the iLink IEEE-1394 connector. For the last 3 generations, Sony has only offered two models, both built to meet lower price points with lower resolution CCDs, etc. Only the step-up model of these last 3 generations is capable of 8mm/Hi8 playback. I sell in this department at Best Buy, and that analog playback compatibility of a home library of 8mm or Hi8 tapes is the only reason I can justify matching a customer with one of these, as I wonder how much longer Sony will continue building Digital8 models, since they once offered 5-6 models and now only two. I never steer anyone to the lower end, digital-only Sony Digital8 model.

There is another reason you should consider. When I purchased my Sony camcorder I took into account my friends and relatives who also have camcorders. They tend to give me their tapes so that I then edit and produce the DVD's of their holidays etc.I sell in this department at Best Buy, and that analog playback compatibility of a home library of 8mm or Hi8 tapes is the only reason I can justify matching a customer with one of these
Although they own a camcorder, I am the one with the necessary software, a computer that is capable plus the experience and knowledge to produce a 'respectable' DVD.

Yes, TV Pro card has an audio input. However, I have to connect TV card to my sound card (in-line input..).. I am capturing the movie via VideoStudio, but i am to try it with enclosed software with my TV card.. I will let you know how i go..DVDDoug wrote:I think the TV Pro card has an audio input. Ulead 9 capture sync problem with analog
I'm having a sync problem with Ulead 9 using analog capture through the USB 2.0 port from the ADS instant DVD device. I don't have this problem when using the old capture wizard 3.x.
Any suggestions?

Hi8/8mm playback with Digital8
Yes, a person who wants to be equipped to edit from several sources would do well to have on hand a Digital8 camcorder, as it is the only format with which to play Digital8 recordings, and it will handle 8mm and Hi8 as well, IF it is one of the models that supports analog playback. I have met a few would-be buyers thinking of getting the cheaper current Sony Digital8 model just for that purpose who were not aware that they would have to step up to the next model to get that capability. If I were going to do any camera origination with it, I would get a used one of the 3-5 YO models with better CCD. Of course if you work a LOT with 8mm and Hi8, you might do well to have something like my Sony EVC200 deck or even a GVD200 deck, providing much better transport action and sturdiness.
