I received an offer to upgrade to CD & DVD Picture Show 4 since I had previously purchased PS2 and PS3 versions. I wouldn't even consider
buying the upgrade to PS4. I have been using PS2 for about 2 years
and it seems to work fine. I purchased PS3 about a year ago and it never worked for me. If I tried burning a small (128 gb) slideshow to DVD, it took around 2 to 3 hours to burn it. If the slideshow was large,
it would run for hours and then fail. I tried numerous things to get PS3
to work. I even downloaded a recommended patch to try and solve it
but nothing worked. I gave up using PS3. It was a waste of money.
The support from Ulead to try and solve the problem was no help and
pitiful. I wouldn't buy any of their products. I am a very unhappy
ex-customer. They should be ashame to put products on the market
that don't work. I am running these products on a Pentium 4 running at
3.2 gigs with hyperthreading and 512 megs of ram.
I am really into creating DVD slideshows for friends and neighbors. I have been looking at purchasing a better product with more bells and
whistles and have decided on ProShow Gold by Photodex. Does anyone else have any other recommendations for slideshow software that does
work.

No offense intended but it's only fair to mention that there are ten's of thousands of users who have no major complaints, myself among them. Video applications like Ulead CD/DVD PS4 are complex programs. You might have system configuration problems, registry issues or software conflicts that prevent the application from running properly. In such cases, no amount of tech-support is going to help. If you're not currently using a safe registry cleaner such as Registry First Aid or Registry Mechanic on a regular basis, I'd definitely recommend doing so. No guarantees but it might solve some problems for you. That said, I can appreciate that there comes a time where it makes more sense to move on than fight a losing battle.
Re ProShow Gold, Version 2.5, this is an excellent pro-level program for someone who wants total control over virtually every aspect of their slide slows. There are no step-by-step creation "wizards" but the program isn't difficult to master with a little practice. The only thing I don't like is waiting for video clips to render when dragged to the storyboard. Longer clips can take a while and you have to wait until the process is complete before you can continue working on your project. That said, I still prefer it over CD/DVD PS4 if I want a fine-tuned presentation.
As far as other apps go, you might want to look at ArcSoft's "DVD & CD Slideshow" and Sonic Solution's "My DVD Studio 6.1". These are well-featured but more along the lines of Ulead CD/DVD PS4 versus ProShow Gold.
Good luck,
-Mike
