making DVD problom (convert step got some probloms) (4101)

Post by LarryM1 »

I've used Uleadvideo Studio for years :D .. am now using 9 :) ..when I go to
make a DVD ( my first) :P just before burning a box pops up that says this action will take some time to render :? after I click ok and then start the burning process another box pops up that says
convert step got some probloms (4101)
this of course ends making a dvd
any ideas on what is wrong ?and how to fix? :?:
Thanks Larry

I'll have a guess; hope it helps.
I suspect that you have a project loaded in the timeline, and you are asking VS to burn that to a DVD. MANY people in this forum have found problems with that.
The project file is NOT a video file; it is a series of notations to tell VS what bits of which clips you want to use, together with what audio files, transitions etc etc. You could have references to hundreds of individual files which are living on your hard drive.
The FIRST thing that you should do is to COLLATE all that scattered data into one contiguous video file. VS calls this RENDERING, and it is under Share - Create Video File.
OK, so when you have produced a single video file that contains all the stuff you wanted, THEN you can load that file either into the timeline or the burning module, and ask VS to process it for burning to DVD.
Asking it to process a file that is still being created seems a bit much - the whole process often falls over.

thanks for the help Ron
I finally got the dvd burning to work by uninstalling and then reinstalling version 8 first then 9 as 9 is an upgrade and won't install without it
I suspect that when I uninstalled UleadVideo 8 a while back it possibly through out some needed files or changed something ..anyway there sure seems to be a lot of people with this issue .try the uninstall it worked for me

Before going for the uninstall/re-install option, try "Repair" first.
It worked for me. To do this just go through the VS9 install procedure and an option appears to repair.

I think the Repair option is only available if your installed from discs. If you have the downloaded version, your only option is to simply reinstall.

My reistall was easy :o .. I odered the cd when I bought online ..I never thought of doing the repair ...good idea... also my first dvd played fine on the computer  but didn't work well in the dvd player  Jerky picture and it would lock up all the time ... I'd burnt it at the maximum speed :? so I tried it at a slower speed and walla it worked perfectly :D
