Bug: System requirements on the Ulead site says PI11 box will run under Win98 SE though the dowload requires ME, 2000, or XP.
This is untrue. The upgrade box installation stops and closes down with the message that XP or higher is required.
Upgrade box will not install under Win 98SE

Do you have a screen shot of, or a link to, the page on the Ulead site where it says the Boxed Version will run under Win 98 SE?
Last time I checked it said this: http://www.ulead.com/pi/sysreq.htm

Hi Carol! Hi Heinz!
Heinz, apparently the Ulead site has changed since PI v11 was first announced, since Ulead did indeed advertise on that same page at that time that PI v11 box version would run under Win98SE. I wondered about that when I first saw it since it didn't make any sense to me that the box version would run on 98SE but the download version wouldn't. (No, I didn't take a screenshot, but I did post a question about this on PIBB on October 6 hoping to get an answer from Colwin, who I now understand is no longer working on PI.)
Unfortunately, that little mistake on their site is a big pain in the pocketbook for Win98SE users who rushed out to get the box version at nearly twice the price of the download version thinking they could use it. Flat out-Ulead should offer a refund to Win98SE users.
PS FWIW-The PDF files listing the new features that I downloaded at the same time as my first visit to the new PI page on October 6 do not mention anything about compatibility with Win98SE. It only appeared on the website and I have no idea when Ulead corrected their mistake.

I understand your frustration and, in another forum, have come accross somebody else claiming the web site stated that PI 11 would run under Win 98 SE.
I personally have not seen this, but this is irrelevant. Have you contacted ULEAD to ask for a refund? If there is proof that the website stated this, then you should be able to get a refund. What are the system requirements on the box?
I would try to find other potential users with Win 98 SE who fell for the false claim, if indeed there was one, and approach Ulead collectively if you cannot get them to agree otherwise.

Heinz, I never used the term "fell for the false claim," which makes it sound like Ulead purposely mislead customers.
Ulead made a mistake in their advertising, it happens. But if people purchase a product based on that mistake, then in my opinion the seller, Ulead, should refund the purchase. That's only good business practice.
And I guess, as a customer, documenting Ulead's mistake is going to be hard to do since website corrections can be made at the click of a button. (BTW-notice that WinME has also been removed in addition to Win98SE.) I'm sure no one thought to take a screenshot of the old page. Maybe someone can check their browser cache to see if they have the old page available.
No, I didn't purchase v11. Since I have to order by snail mail from abroad, and I don't get to see the box until it arrives-post purchase, I usually wait until the patch has been released and incorporated into the program. But frankly, as far as I'm concerned, Ulead hasn't given me a good enough reason to upgrade yet.
Cheers!

Hi Jen, never said you did, it's just me calling a dog a dog. Whether this was intentional or accidental will be even harder to prove. Just as well you did not purchase itJenT wrote:Heinz, I never used the term "fell for the false claim," which makes it sound like Ulead purposely mislead customers.

If your version of PI does what you want it to do, why even contemplating an upgrade? Just to have the latest? Surely not, tha's why you are still with Win 98 I guess. I'm a bit the same, that's why I'm still on MSP 7. I only got PI 11 now because I moderate this forum but would have gotten it evenyually for its RAW image support also.
As your sig says: Don't try to fix it if it ain't broken (or something to that effect)
