Apple Mac compatible?

Post by Number9 »

Hi All,

The question's in the title I guess, I'm thinking of moving to Mac and wondering if any of the tools I normally use for making DVDs will work on a Mac?

What I use is: DVD Workshop 2 / TMPGEnc plus / Cuttermaran / Audacity...

Any clues? The Ulead site certainly doesn't mention compatability.

No Windows proggies will work on Mac, yet. Some have cross-platform versions, but they are always different; you will have to consult the manufacturer. There is no Mac version of WS2.

You have my sincere commiseration for the changeover. I suspect you will not be a happy bunny! :)

I VERY much doubt it. Ulead is not Mac or Linux oriented. Cross-platform video is nothing simple. I know many MAC video guys go to Windows for authoring.

Apple sells Final Cut, which is probably fine software. And it, has the advantage of being Apple software running on Apple hardware, under an Apple operating system... So, there shouldn't be as many compatibility issues. Like all things Apple, it's expensive! (However, until a few months ago, it was the most "affordable" software with 5.1 channel AC3 capability.)

Well, you can get Audacity for OS-X... Everything else is Windows only.

See Ulead's System Requirements. (Windows & Pentium)

Don't hold your breath... Like Devil said, it's hard enough to make this stuff work with a single platform, given all of the various file formats, codecs, and hardware variations.
