Frame Gallery Error Message

I have a photograph and I want to put a frame around it. So I opened Easy Palette and displayed the frames in the Frame Gallery. However, when I double click on any frame, I get the following error message:

"Unable to apply the selected thumbnail's properties to the image."

I have tried saving the image in a variety of formats (bmp, tif, gif, ico, ufo), but nothing works.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Many thanks.
