Hi,
I am trying to make a frame, like this :
http://www.olddutchman.nl/frame/frame.jpg
Now i am quite happy with the rounding of the edges, but i made it with
Illustrator and it contains too many point.
Is there a way to make this shape in Ulead ? I know it is possible but
i can not figure out how to be sure it is a symmetrical shape. If i do it with the pen tool, i have to do it by hand, that is not secure.
Tnx

round edges
This is quite simple. If you want it to be symmetrical, I would suggest drawing it in any devoted photo editing program like Adobe Photoshop. You can use the rounded rectangle tool to create the border shape. Save as bitmap or jpeg, preferably bitmap. Then import image and convert to vector in COOL3D. Then to make the round bars use the cylinder shape and match radius values for top and bottom and adjust height. Then copy and paste to make another cylinder with the exact dimensions. Now just position, orientate and scale. If your rounded rectangular object does not match the radius of the cylinders, you can adjust the Z axis in Scale option or use the Bevel option. Group objects and color or texture. That's it.
In fact I could make this using your supplied image in no time.

I think if you would recreate or change to a white background, you would have better luck importing it into Cool 3D.
Did you try to import it as an AI file, bitmap, jpeg, EMF, or WMF?
You mentioned about too many points, play with the adjustments for Threshold, Jump Points, and Tolerance. This morning I made a real quick image like yours, using PSP9, saving it as a bmp, with a white background. When I first imported it into Cool3D, I could only see the white background. However I was able to get a decent rounded rectangle shape.
A few minutes ago, I saved the example you provided, brought it into PSP9, changed the background to white, and was able to bring it into Cool3D, and convert it. It wasn't that great, due to changing the background color, and only spent about 5 minutes on it.
Just keep trying it'll happen...
