video clips won't run in Powerpoint presentation

Post by lagaskins »

My husband just got videostudio 9 for me, because he read a review saying it was the easiest way to edit video. Ha ha. Anyway, I've learned to capture and edit and then "share" a clip to get it into mpeg format. Then, I can insert it into my Windows Powerpoint presentation. I can see the initial frame on the Powerpoint slide, but when I click it to play it, the screen that was showing my initial frame goes black. I can still see the rest of the Powerpoint slide. My clips play perfectly every time in Window Mediaplayer. What am I doing wrong?????
Thanks

I`m doing a short Power Point presentation in work today so I`ll try adding a video just to see what happens and I`ll get back to you later today.

I just tested inserting an MPEG clip into my PowerPoint presentation and it works ok. In VideoSTudio, right-click on your mpeg clip and select 'Properties'. What does it say?

For Powerpoint that is to be distributed to others use 320 x 240 MPEG1 or WMA. For maximum compatability use 320 x 240 AVI . However I regularly use MPEG2 720 x 576 non interlaced in Powerpoint, you must though have a reasonable spec machine for full size video, a lot of laptops will struggle.

I have tried various formats and have found that a vcd file format works OK. It can either play automatically or via a mouse click. I tried a dvd file but that doesn`t do anything at present. If you are adding text to the page then the vcd file should be an acceptable size.
