HI-- I have a piece of video I'm using as my main menu. I need the Play button (a text button created in DVD W.S.) to only be revealed about 8 seconds after the menu has started. Is there any way to do this?

To fade in, I don't think so. To appear after 8 secs, yes.
A dummy menu screen without the button, but with an invisible default button set to 8 sec duration, leading in the playlist to a copy of the same menu but with the real button added, as you will.

Hey devil---Thanks for your reply. This is what I ended up doing:
What I did was fade in the word "PLAY" where I needed it on my NLE timeline as part of the overall video effect on the DVD menu movie. Then after bringing the MPG file of the DVD menu into DVD Workshop I just put an invisble button linked to the main video content in the exact place where the word Play was.
