I have video ripped from a dv camera that is in a dv .avi file. When I open that in VideoStudio it displays it as 4:3 aspect ratio and exports it to 4:3 even if every setting I can find is set to 720x480 output. Is there any way to maintain the 720x480 aspect?
thanks

how to maintain 720x480 aspect ration
-
PDavies
720/480 = 1.5 4/3 = 1.333
720/480 = 1.5 4/3 = 1.333
Those are different ratios. If I load my original DV captued from the camera into quicktime it has a 720x480 ratio but if I load it into Windows Media Player it has a 4x3 ratio. Clearly Windows Media player is changing my video. Is there no way that I can keep the video locked at 720x480?
thanks

Paul,
My mistake, and I am usually much better at math too. I do know that the 720x480 is the picture size used in NTSC, when being referred to as 4:3. It used to confuse me until I was reading something about the pixels being rectangles instead of squares for video. Heck 16:9 is 720x480 too, that one really got me.
I am not very familiar with Quicktime, but are you saying that you are running the same video clip in Quicktime and WMP, and they give you different pictures? Just trying to get the whole picture.

In my neck of the woods (UK) we use the PAL video system.PDavies wrote:720/480 = 1.5 4/3 = 1.333
