MF3se and Sonic MyDVD possible conflict??

Post by Gav »

Hi,
I use a HP Pavilian a1132a PC with 1 gig ram and a 3500+ ADM Athalon 64 processor. The system came pre-built with a lightscribe DVD =/- writer. I am trying to use DVD Factory 3se that comes withthe DVD Express Vidio capture device.

I can get all the way to the last page to create the DVD the program crashes at that point or after the bars move a bit it says "source file had some problem 5003"

This HP computer comes with Sonic MyDVD. Could this be the problem and if so how do i fix it?

I dont think it's a conflict... I suspect there really is something wrong with your source file. Sometimes a file will play fine, but a tiny bit of corruption can really screw-up DVD authoring software!

Did the capture device come with special capture-software in addition to Movie Factory? If so, try using that software for the capture step.

What video format are you capturing to? If possible, capture to AVI format. (But, I think your capture device is MPEG only.)

Are you editing MPEGs? MPEGs are not meant to be edited, and editing them can result in corrupted files. If you are stuck in an MPEG world, try making an un-edited DVD... this will help determine if the editing is causing the problem.

Still cant make a DVD

Hi again. Ok I captured a new file in MPEG2. Thats the only DVD format my ADS DVD Express lets me do. Ok I got further this time. I powered down Norton and HP-digital imaging and a spyware thing too.

Now it trys to make a DVD but gets to the part where I think its about to burn it and says another application is using my dvd device.

No other programs are running? (when i press ctrl-alt-del)
Under processes i see lots of stuff listed. Maybe it will work if I end one??
Any ideas?

Hi Gav :)

What I'm seeing that can be safely shut down (by the way I'm using an HP Pavilion) are:
  • Updates for HP
  • thunderbird.exe ( Using Firefox too? :) )
  • jusched.exe
  • iPodService.exe
  • ITunesHelper.exe
Those are a few that shouldn't pose any problems.
However you might want to try
EnditAll to help shutdown unneed apps running in the background.

Yes it can. Did your version come with that horrible program Arcsoft Showbiz?

If it did, uninstall it. See if DMF works. You may need to uninstall and reinstall DMF as well.

I had a conflict way back with Ulead products and found out it was Showbiz. After getting rid of that, DMF worked for me again.

Hope this helps.

Problem solved

The file that was running in the background causing the trouble was :
jusched.exe
I ended it using ctrl-alt-del then end process
It was making my burner busy.

(I dont think my HP has ArcSoft Showbiz)

Thanks for all the help everyone! :)
