Adding Video Clips... problem

Post by daddog »

Not always, but sometimes when I add a video clip I get a message that says it is too long and will be trimmed to fit. When this happens the voice track is not in sync with the video track.

How can I get it to add a full clip without trimming it? Why does it do that?

Thanks in advance. :)

Are you trying to insert the clip between other clips, and have it set to add a default transistion?

The only time I've noticed this is when I'm adding a transition, and the transition is too long for the clips it is going between.

Yes sir I am, but some of the clips are quite long. The length of the transitions are only 3 or 4 seconds. Should I remove the default that adds transitions automatically for me?

After posting the above, I thought about this, and I think that it stems from having ripple editing enabled. Do you by chance have ripple editing enabled?

I was working on a project yesterday and encountered the same thing. If so you can disable it, however it will not keep the titles, overlay, and audio in sync with how you had it. You will have to manually move those back.

You can disable the auto add transitions, however it's not going to remove the transitions that's already there.

Hi

Afaik this warning window is associated with the transition duration, and although the wording may suggests trimming the video clip in fact its the ‘Inserted Effect Clip’ length that is reduced to accommodate the video clip.
There should be no change in the video clip duration.
Its not a problem except the transition effect may be to short.
