Cannot create HD MPEG2 files with UVS9

Post by Joe Linn »

I am using UVS9 (9.00.1000) with the HD plugin to edit video shot with the Sony HDR-HC1 camera. When I try to create a video file, if I select either "NTSC MPEG2 (1440x1080, 29.97 fps)" or "same as project settings" or "same as first video clip," I get the message ""unable to compress the video with the specified frame rate or frame size." If I select "WMV HD NTSC (1440x1080, 29.97 fps)," I am able to create the file.

The source video is MPEG2 1440x1080, 29.97 fps. One thing I have noticed that seems odd is that the highest resolution available on project settings is 720x576 and that is what the settings are for this project.

Does anyone have ideas about why I am able to create WMV but not MPEG2 at 1440x1080? Has anyone else succeeded in doing this?

Thanks!

Joe

I've done it awhile back when the HDV plugin was first realesed. Did both MPEG2 and WMV files. I gave up on the WMV file because it was taking too long to render.

My configuration was VS9 ESD with update and HDV and MPEG4 plugin. Nothin else, worked fine.

Joe,
At first I had to manually set up all project property settings. I entered video bitrate at 25000 Kbps using the keyboard. Later, I was able to get VS9 to set project properties OK by placing an HDV clip in the timeline. Then you can use "Same as Project properties" when you make your mpeg2 video file.

See page 2 of the following thread: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... hlight=hc1

I had the same problem as Joe. I realized that I had installed some of the components out of order--first VS9, then HD plugin, then a VS9 patch needed to get the HD working for capture.

Once I reinstalled the HDV plugin, I was able to output at full resolution. I still cannot type in the 25k bitrate in the project properties(?). I have to select the "Same as First Video Clip" under create video file to get HD output.

Looks great, though...

Good luck!
