No Sound UVS9, different problem than the usual (I think)

Post by gordon_fan_24 »

I know this has been discussed before, but tonight I was editing an MPEG video encoded with MPEG sound, NOT Dolby sound (I know often this is the problem). After restarting when I got an "out of memory" error, (another topic for another time) I played the video again, only to discover that this time the sound was missing, and I got an error, something about a "direct show plugin" (havent been able to re-create the message for copying to post here) I havent touched a thing with any plugins, or anything for that matter, what is going wrong?

Video Properties
MPEG NTSC 29.97 fps
8999kbps

Audio
MPEG
224kbps

Two things....
Video Properties
MPEG NTSC 29.97 fps
8999kbps

Audio
MPEG
224kbps
If you are using NTSC I think you will find that MPEG Audio doesnt work on most machines in your area you need either AC3 (Dolby) or LCPM.
MPEG audio is for PAL regions.

is 8999kbps a typo? should it be 8000

first, the no sound problem occurs on the computer, not the DVD player, I havent even burned it, I'm still editing it. Also It worked perfectly before the "direct show error". I have used MPEG audio for almost a year, and It worked fine on all my DVD players. I know that it is supported on my players and my computer because it was working. the 8999kbps is NOT a typo, I captured it using the ADS DVD Xpress, at 9mbps, and ulead reads it as 8999kbps.
