Add more buttons to Menu?

Post by me »

DVDMFDC 4, in WinXP Pro SP1.

I wish to make a chapter menu, with six chapters. I do not want to have multiple menu pages, I want the menu to be all on one page. (Six thumbnail buttons will certainly fit on one page.)

The most buttons I have seen on any template is 4 buttons. If I click "customize", I can move around those buttons, choose what type of frame they will have, but I don't see any way to add more buttons, which one would assume would be an obvious possibility in customizing a menu.

Is there any way to do that? Or to move buttons from page 2 onto page 1, to put the menu on one page?

If not, I would strongly suggest that Ulead fix that, in the next update. I have tried the demo of Ulead DVD Workshop 2 (a program that is a couple years old), and one can add buttons in that program. It shouldn't be a hard capability to add to DVDMF4. "Customizing" a menu should certainly include the capability of adding or removing buttons.

I hope though, that one can do that now, and I have somehow missed it. Could someone tell me how to do it?

Also, could there possibly be additional templates (perhaps including one or more with six buttons), that I (with the download version) don't have, that could be downloaded? If so, I would appreciate a URL.

Thank you for your response.

The Trial might not have a Template that has more than 4 buttons, but the Full version does (from memory, I think I've seen up to 12 thumbnails in one of the customize templates).

What about the question though--if the templates are customizable, is there any way to add buttons to them?

No, the program is pretty much Template/Wizard driven -- but does give you the ability to move and re-size thumbnails. So unfortunately, you can't add buttons to the menu like you can in DVD Workshop 2.x. Instead, you pick a custom button layout, and then tweak the layout as needed...

the full version of MovieFActory allows you to customize the layout of your DVD menu. You can add upto twelve buttons (4x3) per page in the menu using the layout template "La1201".

If you purchase the software, make sure you have installed the extra components because the layouts will be there.

I too have this problem! i have a full version over 2 discs - however i can not get the second disc to run, maybe this is where the extra templates are. Why can no one answer the question!!

Are there anymore templates to download?where?

And if you can add up to twelve buttons, why does my full version not allow this!?

You cannot add buttons to a template. Once you have the full version and the extra content (over 350 Mb) installed, you will have access to templates with up to 12 buttons. These may be moved, resized and reframed and contain any frame from the clip or a moving section of the clip.

And Rew. - Have you looked at the second disk with Explorer. It is bound to contain the extra content. Probably in an installation .exe file. Your full version does not show a 12 button template because you have not installed the extra content.

Retail (CD) versions of MovieFactory already contains the "extra contents". It is included when you install the program.

For those who have the ESD (download) versions, there are two files;

the program which is around 80-90MB

and the extra content (around 300-350mb).

THe download links for the program and the contents are on the same "confirmation email" that you will receive.
