I've created a DVR/PVR machine based on MCE2005, along with 4 DVB-t tuners. In the UK, DVB-t is used to broadcast digital mpeg streams (not HD). MCE records it as a dvr-ms file, which can be stripped using AutoConvertDVR. The resultant mpg files are cleaned using VideoReDo (i.e. deal with audio synchro over dropped frames).
I'm trying to archive some recordings by backing them up to DVD. The files produced from BBC TV channels skip through the DVDWS's encoding step, which is great. However on files that have been created from other channels (e.g. E4), DVDWS won't allow me to skip through the encoding step, so I'm forced to watch the already DVD compliant files being re-encoded. Is there a way of getting around this? MCE doesn't have the option to change the recording bitrate for DVB-t, this is dictated by the broadcasters.
