Sounds more like a WINDOWS installation gone heywire. To get to the bottom of this, please give us something to work with, like OS, system spec's etc.

What are you doing when it crashes?

Maybe you've got some bad video files??? All of my problems have been caused by corrupted (or non-compliant?) video files. I've had "freezing" when trying to load a file. I've had crashes when previewing a file for editing. But, only with particular files which are somehow "bad", although they generally play OK with Windows Media Player...

have you installed the updates for MF4? Also have a look in preferences where MF4 is storing it's temp files and then clear out that directory - a corrupt temp file can cause problems.

Conflict?

Post by gfinio »

I am not by any means very knowledgeable on this; however, in the past I had similar issues with different similar programs. I was told that I couldn't have more than one type of program for video editing/burning/capturing on my PC otherwise conflicts occur and so does system crashes. Once I uninstalled the other programs, the problem was fixed. Maybe this is helpful, maybe not.

Help - PC turns off - DVD MovieFactroy 3

Post by Russell »

I have the same problem with MovieFactory 3, after the burn to disk page, the PC turns off after approx 5 minutes (20%) into the coversion process. Did you ever solve this problem?? I installed the software and the project file onto a second PC I have and it produced an "error shuting programme down" message at about the same point.

Both machines run under XP (one home ED and the other XP professional)

I had 128 MB of RAM which I increased to 512 with no improvement.

This is driving me nuts!!! Help anyone please.

Yes, I've installed the patches

I have 2 versions of MediaStudioPro, two versions of DVD MovieFactory and one version of VideoStudio installed, plus a few image editing programs and NeroDigital installed. I have no such issues.
