Unspecified error 8004138c during video/audio multiplexing
hello!
during audio/video multiplexing and when it has reached 92% i get an ''unspecified error, error code:8004138c'' message and i cannot complete the procedure.
this happens when i burn some videos that i have previously edited in Ulead Movie Studio 9.The kbps rate is 5500 constant and the audio is uncompressed.
help me please! i have tried this repeatedly with no result.
thank you.

1. There is no need to use bold type
2. I presume you mean VideoStudio 9????????
3. Please tell us exactly what you are doing, step by step, the length of the project, the project settings in both softwares, a run-down on your hardware and OS,
You will probably get better success by using AC-3 2.0 audio at 192 kbit/s

I don't have the answer but it's just to tell you that I have the same unspecific error
I've got DWS 2.231 with a big project to fit on a DVD9.
All my files are in MPEG2, except 2 of them : the first is a MPEG1 640x480 and the second a WMV file, but the error still occur even when I burn the project without those both. I've got also MP3 files for menus background music, a first play still of 20 seconds, a motion menu with a background video and 5 still sub-menus.
I tried different options : high quality with AC3, medium quality with AC3, even a personnalized mode set as the same bitrate as my MPEG2 files (9300kbps, AC3 384kbps).
I also tried with all my MPEG2 files converted in MPEG1 640x480 and in this case the ISO creation process is working fine, but the problem is that the quality is poor and the audio is not synchronized with the video
I've got 25Gb free on my C: and 100Gb free on the partition where my project is.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I get the same error at the same time within the process. Here is some more background info:
- I'm burning all mpeg-2 files, all created with the main-concept mpeg encoder in Sony Vegas. DVD-compliant format, interlaced video (lower field first) 29.9 fps, average bitrate VBR 6000kbps (video), CBR 192kbps (audio), 48khz,
- I'm burning to hard-drive (DVD folder), high quality profile, project size is 9.9 Gb, avialable hard drive space is 30GB
- I have no other applications running in parallel
- I have no fancy animated buttons, I'm using a default menu from the menu wizzard, as this project is for test purposes only.
I have burned DVDs before with no problems, however this is the first time I'm burning DVD folders to hard drive and also the first time I'm burning high bitrate mpegs.

Grrrr.... MPEGs!
I've had trouble with some MPEGs...
(I have no idea what that specfic error means.)
Or, there's something that Workshop doesn't like about your MPEGs.... Either they are corrupted, or Workshop thinks they are corrupted. I call it "sneaky corruption", because the files always play OK.
Were your original files MPEG? MPEGs can get corrupted during capture, or during editing. You said "all" files; Did you join MPEGs together, or does your DVD contain more than one seperate title?
(I have no idea what that specfic error means.)
Have you tried a lower bitrate? Maybe Workshop is giving-up when it realizes that 9.9GB won't fit on a DVD....VBR 6000kbps (video), CBR 192kbps (audio), 48khz... project size is 9.9 Gb...

- I have not tried a lower bitrate. I'm aware the bitrate is a bit high, but I'm using 192kbps for audio, so there shouldn't be a problem, plus I do not get an error saying that the bitrate is too high. By the way, I have selected the "High Quality/AC3" profile, which usually is less likely to cause bit rate problems compared to mp3 or LPCM.
- I have successfully burned these type of mpeg files to DVD before using Ulead DVD WS. The only thing I'm doing different now is, I'm burning a DVD folder to hard drive and the project exceeds the standard 4.7, but that should not matter when you burn to hard drive, or does it? I wanted to test how the quallity turns out when I shrink the 10GB DVD folder to DVD5/DVD9 size in DVD shrink, that's the whole reason why I'm doing this excercise.
- All of my asset files were generated in Sony Vegas using the main concept mpeg-2 engine, which I have read, is also used by Ulead DVD WS, so it should be 100% compatible, and it looks like it is, because the status bar races to the right during the encoding process for each file. Also, the main concept mpeg render settings I use in Vegas are based on a DVD-compliant profile, the only parameter I have modified is the audio bitrate (changed it from 224 to 192 kbps) and the video minimum bitrate (changed it from 192 kbps to 1200). The average (6000) and maximum (8000) video bitrate I have left unchanged. Perhaps this IS the culprit though, maybe there are 8000 kbps bitrate peaks? But again, I do not get a "bitrate too high" error

It's not that the bitrate itself is too high. It's the 9.9GB file size that I'm wondering about. Workshop knows that this won't fit on a dual-layer DVD, and that may be why it's choking. As you probably know, a smaller bitrate is required to shrink the file.
I wouldn't expect Vegas to have this problem, but my MPEGs got corrupted by editing them with Video Studio. If they both use the same codec... who knows. (The MPEG encoding by itself has never caused me any trouble. It's the something in the editing and re-coding process.)

Why shouldn't there? The software is called "DVD Workshop", not "Any old authoring software". If DVDs have a limitation, I would expect it to disallow anything that exceeded the official DVD specification.mltwitz wrote:If that's the case, I would be quite annoyed, because the software should not assume that I want to burn the DVD folder I saved to hard drive to DVD, therefore there shouldn't be a size limit for DVD folders.

Hi
I'm getting the same error in DVD workshop 2 latest build.
It appears to be occuring when the program attempts to generate the VTS_01_10.VOB file ie. when the last part of the file name goes double digit, is this against DVD specs?. My intention was to write this out to a HDD folder and then use something like dvdshrink to get it small enough to fit on a Dual Layer disk.
Anyone have any ideas how to fit a 5 hour mpg onto a dual layer disk as one clip?
Is it possible for instance to make it two 2.5 hour clips which presumably means I'll get VTS_01_1 to 5 and VTS_02_1 to 5. However I would need the second clip to play immediately after the first clip.
Thanks
