Sorry, to decived any one, but so far PI v.11 is working like a charm and haven't froze or getting errors. And that is working on big project like painting digitally on a canvas 20 x24 pixels at 300 dpi.

Of course when working on such big projects, I don't open extra windows and surf on the net at the same time, and do save often and clean up my history of undo/redo from time to time.

So am wondering here, what are real bug or pc problem.

Here is my pc info and I have win Xp Pro with all the update etc.

Intel Pentium III processor
601 MHz
320 MB of Ram

Have two Hard Drive of 1 gig each.
Not going to list all my hardware nor software either lol.

empty workspace, no toolbars, menus, etc

Post by miniviolet »

I've seen at least 2 other posts about this, so I thought I should post it in the problems. PI 11 has been running great for me, but last night I had my first problem. I opened up the program after having to use "end task" to shut it down, and after opening there was nothing but a gray empty workspace. Using some of the function keys I could get the easy palette to appear, but that is it. No toolbars, no menu bar, nothing. The only answer I've seen in the other posts is to uninstall and re-install. I'm not a happy camper right now. Getting ready to uninstall.

Here is what I copied from another post about the same thing:
Now when I open PI 11 there are no menus or anything, just a blue bar at the top that says PhotoImpact & the gray bar at the bottom that with the mask, ruler etc. icons. I can get some windows to open using shortcut keys, but cannot get the file menu, tool bar or anything.

you've lost your menu bar possibly by holding down the Ctrl key + m. In other versions of PI it's quite easy to get it back by pressing the Esc key on the keyboard, hopefully that'll work for you too. I'll keep my fingers crossed it does.

Hope that will fix your problem.

"Save As" issue continues

Post by Nate-1 »

I have been using PhotoImpact since version 5 (as well as many other Ulead products) and have never had any real issues with them until Version 11. I have the "Save As" issue as described elsewhere in this topic. The "Save As" window opens and regardless of file type being worked on or to which it is being saved, the "Save" button in the "Save As" window does not work. All the other buttons (Options, Cancel, Browse, Album) work. The "Save" button is not grayed out and does depress but no action is performed. The window remains open and no file is saved. I end up just hitting Cancel to close the "Save As" window. The "Save" button under File heading works, as well as "Save for the Web", but "Save As" should work, so any edited photo won't replace the original.

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling version 11 with no luck. I reinstalled version XL and "Save As" works fine in XL but still not in version 11. I ran version 11 in Windows safe mode, still no luck with "Save As". I have many other photo editors installed, from Photoshop CS2 to Paint Shop Pro, ACDSee Pro 8, Irfanview, etc. Never had any issues with PhotoImpact conflicting with any other editors.

Wrote tech support via these website on 1/26, with only an automated reply that they will get back to me. Called Tech Support via phone past Monday (2/6). The tech was not aware of the issue and could only suggest trying version 11 on another computer. May work but I need it to work on my principal computer. He stated that technicians sometimes have difficulty replicating the issue on test machines. No help. Anyone else outh there who has any solutions or suggestions? Thanks alot.

Just curious here, is it a download version or a box version. From what I have been reading from al the problem post on this board and other board, most of the problem seams to come from a download version.

If it is a download, maybe something wrong in the download, if a box, check the disk for any anomalies. This is the first time that I hear the save as button does not work or either under the files.

Like they reply to you, if it still doesn't work on an other pc, then you are sure you did get a bad copy of PI.v 11.

Wish you luck and let us know the outcome of it.

Mine was both an upgrade and a downloaded version. I have read the same thing concerning the download version. I had purchased and downloaded my upgrade on 12/7. Interesting was that the tech I spoke to on the phone, also asked me when I had purchased the version.

I tried installing version 11 on a laptop and the program works fine, the program allows "Save As". This was using the same download file. So the downloaded file doesn't seem to be the cause.

I once again, uninstalled version 11 from my desktop, including Photo Explorer, Cool 360, etc. I tried installing version 11 in Windows safe mode. Installed fine. Ran the program in Windows safe mode, once again "Save As" does not work. Rebooted to normal mode, also no go. This probably indicates a conflict on the desktop. But in safe mode not much is running except for system files. Don't know where the conflict is coming from. Video drivers (I use ATI's 9800 card). I know I have ATI's latest video driver installed.

I believe I was the first to report this problem. Ulead support told me they are aware of the issue and they were working on a fix. That was a long time ago and they have stopped responding to my emails. I am returning it and asking for a refund. I suggest that you do the same as it appears that Ulead has made a decision not to fix certain defects in 11.

My problem isnt really a bug, but it worked in previous versions, so it should do in PI11 too:

If i paste a image to new and close the programm theres no question if i want to save it. it just shuts down. i work for a watchdealer and on some days i have to copy up to 500 images from pdf-files or sth. saving them all manually would take 3 times longer than just closing PI, answering "yes" to the question if i want to save and hitting enter 1000 times... so IMO this should be fixed

Detaching Palettes

Post by keenart »

When detaching palettes they will not reattach. Using the Preferences Docking feature does nothing to restore the palettes locations to default. Only by changing the My Workspace to another level and then back again, will the palettes reset or reattach.

Very Annoying!

11.0.0.1 won't install

Post by alan927 »

So I found the new patch for PI11 out there, downloaded it, and it's telling me that it can't find PI11 installed on my system.

I launched PI11 and it was installed and working fine (or as well as can be expected). Tried launching the patch with PI11 running, and it still couldn't find the existing version.

So I went to the Control Panel and did a repair, which reinstalled the files, registry entries, etc.

The update still thinks PI isn't installed on my PC. This is frustrating, knowing that bug fixes have been released but won't install.

My original install was defaults, install everything to default directory.

Anyone figure out how to get the patch to install correctly?

My system:
P4 2.6GHz w/ HT
1G RAM
HP Pavilion a250n
200G HD (>100G free)
nVidia 8x AGP video card

PI11 launches from "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact 11\Iedit.exe"

"Save As" issue resolved

Post by Nate-1 »

I finally resolved my issue with not being able to "Save As". It appears that my windows user profile was corrupt, although the "Save As" issue was the only indication for it. I created another administrative user profile in windows. The "Save As" worked fine when I used PhotoImpact with this profile. I then copied the data from my old profile to this new one via: on Microsoft's support web site "How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile"
Refer to http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811151
"Save As" continued and has continued to work in PhotoImpact. All of my other programs have also continued to work fine. One note if using this fixis to make sure you have your license/registration codes/serial numbers for any of your programs. When using the new profile, opening some but not all of the programs (especially those I have downloaded and installed) for the first time, the program opens as unregistered. Once I re-enter the license code, everything is back to normal.
I have since deleted the old corrupt profile and am solely using the new one, with PhotoImpact working fine. Hope this helps anyone with a similar or related issue. Thanks again.

I'd bet it was enough to replace PhotoImpact settings ONLY. No need to fiddle with the whole profile.
In my case Blur options did not work, and replacing PI profile with the one set for All Users did the trick.

Always check forums before you buy software.

Good thing I checked here before wasting 90 bucks.

I finally got the patch to install by uninstalling/reinstalling PI11, then applying the patch. For a while it appeared my Multivision Lens Filter problems were fixed, but they've started up again. I'm using version 10 again.
