List of problems with PI 11

Post by heinz-oz »

Please post any bugs you found in the PI 11 software here.

Any unconstructive and not relevant posts will be deleted. We are trying to get a list of problems users are having in an attempt to get ULEAD to provide a fix.

In order for your post to be constructive, please include exact wording of error messages received (screen shot or retyped) and your system spec's like OS, CPU, RAM, MoBo, HDD's (capacity, file system, free space and date of last defrag), anti virus program, fire wall and other programs running while the problem occured.

Edited.

Smartdownload still wont get files from Ulead. They say it is fixed; I disagree. On my system I have 9 files in 3 categories left (according to the smart download dialogue). Selecting them and hitting download shows the download dialogue and the files appear to download, except when done, the entry doesnt disappear from the available file list. It stays there and no matter how many times I update content or try to download these last 9 files will not clear. Also, when trying to get one particular file the file size is shown as 504kb in the smart download list; when 'downloading' it shows as 399kb. 399kb is downloaded but nothing happens and the file is not present on my machine, so something is out of whack there.

I know I can download via the Ulead site but this isnt the point. I also know Ulead have said it is because of busy servers etc, but as I never had any issues with the ANY of the earlier versions (lucky?) I think the smart download is b0rked.

Opening files - which extensions work and which don't?

Post by E »

Attempting to open a file by double clicking e.g. from My Computer, PI fails to open with error message:-

PhotoImpact has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Not as sorry as me :x

More:-
  1. tif and crw are OK
  2. bmp and jpg US
I should add that ALL file types are associated via preferences :)

Confirmed. File associations correct. Opening a .ufo file by clicking directly on it (with or without PI 11 open) causes crash.

My error message here :

Phantom options buttons

Post by bansidhewail »

When I try to switch to the "Options" format for the Sharpen/Blur effects, there is a problem with the interface; when I click on Options, it acts as if I had hit Cancel. Also, Filters Unlimited is heavily obscured by interlacing-style lines.

it would be very helpful if you could edit your post to include some relevant system spec's.

Here's mine. I can't "save as." WhenI try to save using "save as" the "save button is grayed out until I type something inthe file name box. Then When I hit "save" nothig happens. Absolutely nothing. It just sits there.

Can you give us more details please, where did the original image come from, where do you want to save to, file format, and, and, and?

I fear that, if you don't give us more detail to work with, your problem will do the same, just sit there and nothing happens .. or it may fall by the wayside to keep this list of "bugs" short. We need to be able to try to reconstruct your problem. Only if it can be reproduced on another system can we say: this is a bug.

Stripping EXIF data

PI 11 is like 10, it strips the EXIF data if one enables color management in the preference menu. Doesn't make any difference what the system is.

I've tried it with various images that are saved on my hard drive, .jpg, .gif, .tiff, .ufo. I've tried saving it to the desktop, to the original folder the image came from, to "my pictures", etc. I've tried to save it as a ,jpg, .tiff, .ufo. I've tried "saving as" without editing the image and the problem remains. I've tried editing the image and the problem remains the same. None of these variables change things. It will not save. Also, the options dialog box is checked and will not pop up when I hit "save."

Again I've tried every save variable and nothing happens when I hit the save button. Nothing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program and the problem remains the same. I've installed the program and have done a repair install and the problem remains the same. I've installed the program on another XP Home SP1 machine and it has the exactly same problem. Its clear its a coding problem with PI 11.

The program was installed from the upgrade CD which I purchased from Ulead and which was delivered yesterday.

Bug in PI 11 (and 10):

PI 11 still only shows date in US format !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just tried PI 11 and the date format bUg is still there. What a pity!!!

In "Browse Manager", the "EXIF data" windows shows the date in US format. After open the image, the "Image properties"-"File Info"-"EXIF" windows shows the date in UK format. When using "Photo frame"-"Text"-"EXIF", the date is added in US format.

PI11 will sometimes not start

Post by RalphDN »

This only happens occasionally, apparently whenever PI11 just doesn't feel like running. After starting PI11 from the desktop, I get the Windows abnormal termination message, "PhotoImpact has caused an error and will be terminated" (possibly not the exact text of the message, it is in any case the standard Windows text) and PI11 goes away without running. This has happened to me quite often after storing a .UFO file.

I've been lucky, after re-booting the system it ran again, maybe that's a clue as to the source of the problem.

All the best,
Ralph
